Then I boiled a lot of water in a big pot. (the instructions say 6 cups to a gallon of water) I put 6 cups of vegetables into the water and boiled them for 3 minutes.
Then I drained them immediately and cooled them off with cold water and ice cubes. Rinse and cool for 3 minutes, drain, and transfer to bags. I did three batches.
It was pretty fun and didn't take too long, except the waiting for the water to boil. That took a long time.
I don't know how the rest of my garden is going to do. I didn't get tomato cages on my tomatoes and so they're all spread out all over the place. The lettuce I picked but haven't eaten yet. The peppers I accidentally got look good, but I have NO idea what I'm going to do with them. Anyone know about banana peppers? The cucumbers and cantaloupe have grown together in a tangled mess I only noticed tonight, so I don't know about them either. The watermelon's looking OK, but I've never grown it before so I don't actually know.

You can make chili rellenos with banana peppers. Maybe?
They're so small! But maybe they're going to get bigger?
Good for you with the squash. :) You made me curious about your dicing technique! What are you going to eventually cook with the squash? I'm always looking for things to do with zucchini, especially, and have a couple good recipes if you need one. :)
I'll throw the squash into any soup that I make, and I really love to eat it with whole wheat spaghetti. I saute it in a little olive oil with some garlic and eat it with some teeny cubes of fresh mozzarella and tomatoes and basil. Mmmm. Also I've been known to puree it and put it into spaghetti sauce for some hidden nutrition.
At a friend's house today, I saw these super cool things for growing tomatoes upside down. They hold dirt and have to hang from 2 X 4s, the tomatoes grow out of the bottom! They were really big plants too with gorgeous tomatoes. Maybe everyone else already knows about these and I've just been out of the loop.
My Dad has one of those. He didn't get any tomatoes last year, but this year he has a few. He's awfully excited about it.
