A Dictionary Story

I did a lesson with the kids last week on how to use a Spanish/English dictionary.  I used my old trusty dictionary as an example of how important it is.   As I was explaining, I had a memory all of a sudden.

I got this dictionary right before I went to Mexico in the summer 1994.  There was this boy I liked on that trip, but, you know, I didn't know if he liked me back.  One afternoon I went to the corner to get a Coke with another boy on our team and the Mexican kids told me when I got back--"Mateo está celoso."  I had to look it up.

Can you see it-second from the bottom?

"Matt is jealous"

It still makes me smile and blush a little.

Awww, that's sweet. And, as my former Spanish teacher, you'll be happy to know that I knew what celoso meant without having to look it up! Thank you.
