amigurumi, etc.

I made my first attempt at amigurumi, the Japanese craft of making small animals out of crochet. I made a skunk for Jairus' Birthday. He's cute-ish, but not nearly as cute as the pictures in the pattern. I'm not sure if I'll try again. It wasn't hard, really... I think I just need more practice with embroidery in order to make the face better. I also made Anna a skirt out of an old sweatshirt that was in the goodwill pile, that was fun and it's pretty cute. I don't know if it looks cute here in the picture, maybe I'll get one of her in it, that'll make anything cute. I'm working on another star blanket. I found a simpler explanation of the pattern on Craftster, and this one is looking lots better than the first one.

Oh, and here's an update on the mantel, Linda saw some deer at a store downtown and I think they really helped. Thanks!

All of it is very cute! You continue to amaze me. And I like your new profile picture, too.

Thanks Jen! I love that picture, but it's blurry, so it only looks good tiny and from far away. Perfect for this though. :)
