6-Man Football

Last weekend we went to Plainview TX to watch nephews Luke and Levi play in the Texas State Playoffs against Garden City, TX. It was a cold game, but fun to see. Luke plays like all of my favorite football players, with an intensity that you can feel from the stands. I'd be proud to wear number 25.

Follett didn't win, so that was Luke's last High School game. I know that feeling, of working so hard in your senior year, devoting yourself entirely to a goal, and not making it there. I know how that hurts.
We're awfully proud of you.

Thanksgiving 2009 (1)

Our Thanksgiving festivities started, as usual, with the baking of many pies. Matthew's Mom told him he had to wear a mask (strep throat) but it didn't slow us down much. We tried (again) to bake 4 pies at once and failed (again) to remember how much longer that takes. So the pumpkin pies took forever (again) and the pecan pies were runny (again), but still tasty.

Susan and Abby and Poppa Ted all came out to our house on Thursday morning.

We had the 8th Annual Connect Four Tournament (more on that tomorrow) and ate lots of yummy food.

Our fireplace isn't working at the moment, so Matthew set it up as a screen for the projector. We watched The Sound of Music (Abby had never seen it!) and played Wii.

And, of course, there was some dress up, and some taking care of babies.

Jovana's Quilt

Waaaay back in March when Chris helped us finish the basement, I told Shannon I'd trade her my quilting labor for his manly labor. I finally finished her project, just in time for her to give it away! Of course I forgot to take a picture of the whole thing, all done and quilted and bound.

Here is a shot of the quilt top.

And a couple of the quilting. I did this on the long arm machine at our local quilt shop. It was simple enough and pretty fun, and I'm pleased with how the quilting came out, especially because it was my first time ever.

TV help

Faithful readers, facebook friends and acquaintances, random "next-bloggers",

I need your help.

We like to have our own TV marathon as a part of the Thanksgiving festivities. Last year we watched Monk, and it was great!

This year we didn't think ahead and watched Monk when it came out.

So now we need a TV show that we all will like, and that is Anna appropriate. (If you're wondering about Monk, we just sent her out of the room for the first five minutes of every show, and that worked pretty well).

It can be an old show or a new show, 30 minutes or an hour, maybe even a movie or two...it just has to be good.

For reference, some family favorites include; Gilmore Girls, Monk, NCIS (not Anna appropriate, and too gory for MJL)...we like character driven shows, funny shows.

Any help?

OSU homecoming

Once in Oklahoma, we enjoyed the one of the best things about visiting Margaret...doing whatever they do.

So we all dressed up in Orange and went to the OSU homecoming parade. Did you know they say O...S...U...Go pokes!? It was very strange and felt a little odd for this KSU girl.

Anna had a great time, especially because she got to snuggle with Lainey.

Garth Brooks...and two other people (I know, it's terrible I can't even remember who they were! They were also famous) were the Parade Marshalls.

Birthday Hat

The night before Susan's party, Anna decided that she needed to make her a Birthday Hat.

I'm not one to turn down a project, so I gathered up some felt and we got to work. Anna drew the heart and I cut it out of felt and stitched it to the hat. Anna drew a princess on some sparkly felt and we stitched that down too. A little decorative zigzagging around the bottom, a little elastic, and we're done!

Happy Birthday Party.

Bossy Love

On Labor Day Linda let me come over and help her organize her office. You know how sometimes there are spaces that just never get done when you move in, and then it's too hard to dig out? That's what happened.

The before picture is terrible and dark and blurry because I was just so excited to get started. I love organizing, I love being bossy, and I love spending time with people while being productive. It was my ideal vacation day. :)

And look what we did!

It makes me sigh with happiness.

35 years ago today my parents were married.

When the Hospice Nurse told me that I needed to ask any questions I had, I asked Mom how to stay married forever. She told me "Well, you just do it every day, and some times are better than others."
I'm thankful.
