TV help

Faithful readers, facebook friends and acquaintances, random "next-bloggers",

I need your help.

We like to have our own TV marathon as a part of the Thanksgiving festivities. Last year we watched Monk, and it was great!

This year we didn't think ahead and watched Monk when it came out.

So now we need a TV show that we all will like, and that is Anna appropriate. (If you're wondering about Monk, we just sent her out of the room for the first five minutes of every show, and that worked pretty well).

It can be an old show or a new show, 30 minutes or an hour, maybe even a movie or two...it just has to be good.

For reference, some family favorites include; Gilmore Girls, Monk, NCIS (not Anna appropriate, and too gory for MJL)...we like character driven shows, funny shows.

Any help?

You can't go wrong with an old season of Friends on DVD. May I also suggest the ol' holiday standby's - A Christmas Story and Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer.

Well, I can't think of any Anna appropriate shows right now, but some of our fav's include: Chuck, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory and 2 and a Half Men.

As for movies, Ari and I have enjoyed watching Elf this week as we put up decorations :)

If I could, I'd marathon watch Seinfeld, but yeah, probably not Anna-appropriate.

What about Brady Bunch, Cosby Show, Little House on the Prairie? 7th Heaven?

The Cosby Show is a good one.
Daniel just rented the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency Season 1 Disc 1 for me. It's a pretty wholesome book series so I hope HBO didn't screw it up. I'll let you know what I think about it.

Ballykissangel...the first two seasons of this BBC drama are fantastic--the other seasons are not so great. We got it from Netflix.

Newhart or the Bob Newhart Show.

I saw Little House on the Prairie and thought of "Colonial House", the old PBS reality show that put people in Colonial times, very Thanksgiving-y, but MJL nixed that. Good ideas! I'll run them by Abby and Dad tomorrow and see if anything sparks.

HBO/BBC's No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency is wonderful! I'm watching the first season now and am so impressed by how well done it is and how they captured the tone and charm of the books. The actress playing Precious Ramotswe is perfect! Jemma watched part of it with me as she was falling asleep and loved the music, but I wouldn't necessarily consider it a family show because of some of her cases. Probably comparable to Monk, though. Nothing graphic.

Not sure Anna proof but probably along the lines of Gilmore Girls:

Everwood
Popular
Felicity
Glee

And very clean

The Christy Series
The Wonder Years

Comedy:

Arrested Development
The Office
Monty Pythons Flying Circus-only for late night.

An oldie that I loved:

Here Come the Brides
