2011

My two resolutions for last year were:

1. Do Less. I think I actually did this. There were people I didn't make things for, and things that people asked me to do that I said no to, and things I thought I ought to do that I just didn't. Still hard though.

2. Buy no crafting supplies in 2010. I think I bought *fewer* craft supplies, but certainly not none. I'd like to continue though, having the attitude of using up before buying new. It's more inspirational for me, anyway.
I also read through the Bible last year! I'm very happy about that. I got really behind in August when school started, but through diligent catch-up in October and November I got back on track and actually finished on New Year's Eve. Now to get started on the stack of books by my bed that were neglected.

Now for this year.

2011
1. Pray more. I'd like to memorize some more prayers. When I feel especially overwhelmed, it really helps me to have some prayers in my head to pull out. Impromptu prayer doesn't help me the same way that reciting prayers does. I'm starting with this one:

"Dear Lord, teach me to be generous, teach me to serve you as you deserve, to give and not count the cost, to fight and not heed the wound, to toil and not to seek for rest, to labor and not to seek reward, save that of knowing that I do your will." --St. Ignatius Loyola

Suggestions welcome!

And while there are other things I'd like to do-like do a better job of feeding my family, eating together, doing projects and having fun with two kiddos, being more DIY and less spendy, etc, I think the only "resolution" will be prayer.

Happy 2011!

I like this resolution. I would also enjoy reading the prayers you are working on. I love that St. Ignatius Loyola prayer.

Here's a prayer I like:
"God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy will, take away my difficulties so that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, and Thy Love, and Thy way of life. May I do Thy will always, amen."

My favorite:
THE PRAYER OF ST FRANCIS
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

Amen.
