I'm not a great gardener. I get better every year, but that's not saying much. I narrowed part of the problem down to the double whammy of our cabin vacation and school starting, which happen right together and take me out of commision for awhile. By the time I get back out to my garden, it looks like this:
A crazy overgrown mess, but it is producing a lot of tomatoes. It might be also producing other things, but the tomatoes are red, so I can find them. I picked over a dozen the other day. I'm going to try my hand at canning, we'll see how that goes. Thankfully Sarah posted a tutorial.
I had the idea to grow cucumbers in a tomato cage this year, to try and keep them contained. Marion smiled at me when I explained it. He was right, it didn't work. My one cucumber is growing all over the place, and mixing in with the tomatoes that are near it. I've never seen anything like this in anyone else's garden.

I'm glad you're not a perfect gardener. It keeps you human.
Ridiculously human. If you start feeling like I'm not, ask Matthew if I've fed him lately, or Anna how many times she's had "breptis for dinner!"
Breptis IS the most important meal of the day...
Have fun in Denver. Get Anna some breptis sushi.
he, he, we always have breptis for dinner on Sundays. And cereal is perfectly acceptable any time as either a main dish or dessert.
Back to the tomatoes--I cooked down some sauce today for the first time! I've never tried to can it before, but thought these tutorials were also helpful. http://heavenlyhomemakers.com/blog/canning-tomato-juice-and-tomato-sauce And she leaves the skins on, which is just one more thing I didn't have to do!
