My niece Joanna sent me a link to Pandora Radio last year, and I've been really loving it. You can create your own station based on a single artist that you like, or mix it all up.
I have a couple of stations that I listen to all the time, one based on Over the Rhine and one for Fernando Ortega. When I'm playing with Anna in the computer room we listen to one based on Elizabeth Mitchell, and when I want Spanish music I listen to one like Ricardo Arjona.
To make a new station, you just have to tell them who you like, and they'll analyze the music and find lots of things that are similar. You can thumbs up or down the individual songs to give further direction. I used to listen to Yahoo radio, but I like Pandora better. No commercials and no log in.
You can share stations too, so let me know if you want one of mine. Bear in mind, I'm kind of an old lady.

I'm on Pandora, too, and would love to share stations!
OK! I sent you a couple of mine, now you send me some of yours!
Y'know... I don't want to say this, because I ALWAYS say this... but I've been listening to Pandora since 2006. And I'm pretty sure I told you about it back then, but you were all smitten with your yahoo radio.
I'm just sayin'...
Yeah, yeah. Shouldn't you be working or something?
I guess I'm too old to even be told about Pandora
Never too old for me!
I listen to Pandora at work when I'm in the back. The "Willie Nelson" station I made is really good and truest to the format I'm going for...the U2 station strays so far from what I want I can't listen to it for all the no-name bands it selects, and it never remains stylisticly accurate after the first handful of songs. Definitely a toss-up.
